1 Peter: Living in the Real World
Description
Christians in the west have had an easy ride for the last couple of centuries, with freedom to practice their faith, meet together, read and teach the Bible and evangelise. This is unusual compared with the experience of most Bible-believing Christians throughout history and worldwide today. But things could be changing. For how much longer can these freedoms be guaranteed?
Wise Christians understand that opposition and suffering are normal for the church and are prepared for anything. That's why Christians today need the message of 1 Peter - a letter to first-century believers surrounded by trials and hostility.
Why does God let this happen? How can my faith survive? How should I treat those who cause me suffering? These questions and more are covered in five sessions, full of practical application. Whatever happens, let's be prepared, so that our faith 'may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory and honour when Jesus Christ is revealed.'

Good and easy to use.
used book in Home group 10 aged 34-73. Found good starting point for discussions and well received by group. Did some at home to prepare for following week. Took two weeks for one section. Good that it relates to life today as a Christian.
Just felt some of the questions overlapped and were a bit repetative. ![]()
Excellent study guide
We will certainly use more of this series ![]()
Excellent material for Bible Study
I was asked to take a Bible Study over the summer. As we did not have a great deal of time I decided to focus on the First Letter of Peter. This Bible Study was excellent. As I prepared the Bible Study it enabled me to focus properly on the relevant passages and guide the group in ways that the lessons could be applied to our lives. This is the first time I have taken A study group and this book has really been invaluable in making the whole experience interesting and relevant and people appear to be taking on board the lessons and applying them to their own lives. 1 Peter may be a short letter but there are invaluable lessons that really need to be taken on board by all Christians. ![]()
Excellent Study
This is the first time in our house group that we have used a Good Book Bible study guide, and we were glad we did. This was probably the best Bible study guide that we have ever used.
The study helped us get an overall grasp of the message of 1 Peter. It was also challenging, and the format of the studies encouraged everyone to participate in the discussions. The 'Getting Personal' sections were particularly liked - taking each topic into the realm of practical application.
Because this Good Book Guide was so well received, I have bought three more Good Book Bible studies for the coming year. ![]()
Excellent
This Study is excellent. There is enough in each section for two to three nights of study. It exposes the central points well, connects them to the Gospel in a way that lets you see that the Gospel is for the whole of life and not just conversion. The way that the end of the study turns what you have learned into prayer has been very helpful. The guide at the back gives further points for developing the questions as the one in the guide book are more general and it helps to have extra questions to draw out people's own experiences and stories. Strong focus on community as one would expect from Mr Chester, the series editor. Overall this has been all that our group of new and mature Christians have needed. ![]()
Questions Very Confusing
Our Girl's small group were very excited about starting this Study on 1st Peter, as the topics open for discussion, seemed very relevant to our ever day lives. However we were very disappointed overall; the questions were quite confusing and seemed quite repetitive. All in all, we felt that out of all the studies that we have done, this is the one that we learnt the least from. Sorry for being so negative, but there are far better study guides available from the Good Book Company ![]()
Great for small group discussion
We have used this book in our cell group. There is a wide age span in the group 30 - 82 and everyone is ejoying it and finding the discussion generated great! thanks for a super resource. ![]()
Challenging and encouraging
We found this a very challenging series of studies, as well as an encouragement in living out the Christian life. The studies provoked quite a lot of discussion in our groups and (hopefully!) have equipped us to be more able to deal with the issues of living in our society ![]()
Very Helpful
