  1. A very good study guide   |   Review by Jeremy Wills

The studies in this guide are about the right length - about an hour, but with extra bits that can be added if necessary.

The questions get to the heart of the passage and there is good guidance in the leaders guide at the back. (Posted on 25/05/10)

  2.   Excellent   |   Review by Gwyon Jenkins

We used this as the "syllabus" for our church house groups. Each group leader followed the structure suggested by the study book. It was excellent in giving the flow of the section being studied, the main themes and always bringing it back to the main reason for John writing the letter. The questions were a great`help in bringing out the meaning of each session and stimulating discussion. Having the "leaders notes" at the back was a useful feature in that it left the basic structure of each study with minimal but sufficient detail. I highly recommend this study help. 3.   Very helpful and encouraging for those unsure of their faith   |   Review by Keiron Forbes

We used these books in our mid-week home based bible study groups and they were very well received. The format was good, as was the content, and the leaders commented on the scope they had, to take the study to the depth required by their group. The leaders notes are very helpful and since they are in every book, any member who is interested can read them too. (Posted on 17/11/08)

  4.   excellent   |   Review by Anonymous

We studied this book as a community group, and all found it excellent, challenging and very rewarding. Would highly recommend it! (Posted on 13/10/08)

  5.   Very helpful   |   Review by Karen Game

We are using this book in a group of very new Christians and have found it very useful. The questions are provocative enough to spark good discussions, but not so in depth as to discourage someone with little Bible knowledge. (Posted on 9/05/08)

  6.   Enjoyable, Enlightening   |   Review by susan macleod

this is the third of these work books which I have worked through the first as part of my confirmation class, this one I have worked on with a small group but mainly on my own For me the overwhelming message which came through from this work book is John telling us that God through Christ Loves us, and that to be in Christ is to love one another. very good for new Christians like myself. 7.   Great for new Christians - practical for established believers   |   Review by Michael Bradley

We have taken 12 new Christians through this book study and found it very helpful for new beleivers yet 'meaty' and practical enough for established believers. There were many talking points that helped to bring the message of 1 John home to the heart. Good job! (Posted on 7/03/08)

  8.   A helpful study for Christians and those not there yet   |   Review by Steve Donald

Having done Christianity Explored with a mixed group of Christians and those not there yet, I was looking for something very clear on th gospel that would raise key issues about true Christianity. I was not disappointed. Clear with good questions this really helped, particularly a Polish man coming from a Roman Catholic background. (Posted on 24/01/08)

  9.   Thorough & helpful, but a bit patronising!   |   Review by Rebekah Whitfield

We used this as a home group bible study and generally we found the guide helpful, but it was as though we were being patronised / 'preached at' at times. This was in terms of making sure we interpreted verses in the way the authors wanted us to, rather than just exploring them & leaving us to make up our own minds - which we are perfectly capable of doing! Although we didn't find anything offensive, we won't be choosing a good book co. guide next time. (Posted on 19/11/07)

  10.   Good studies which get to the heart of the teaching in each passage   |   Review by Samuel Mawhinney

I have been using this in conjucntion with preparation for teaching. I liked the way the studies were divided and partciularly how the main teaching points were identified and applied helping to keep the main points in focus. The format works well and there are different degrees of depth and application. I found that I needed the leaders guide to help guide me in some of the questions, however it was partcularly helpful to me and summarised consisely much of what I had read in commentaries. So I rate this highly. (Posted on 14/06/07)
