This ESV single issue of John's Gospel is suitable for both personal or group study. Retaining the literary beauty much-loved in classic Bible translations, the English Standard Version is an accurate yet readable word for word Bible translation.
A new standard in English Bible versions
The English Standard Version is a new and highly accurate translation of the Bible from the original sources. It sits in the classic stream of word for word Bible translations, using the Revised Standard Version as a base but incorporating all the most recent advances in scholarship and changes in modern language use. It combines the utmost accuracy with readability and literary beauty, and as such it is ideal for personal devotional use or academic study, public reading or memorization.
The Translation Oversight Committee and Translation Review Board are composed of evangelical scholars from many different denominations and from various countries, led by Dr J I Packer of Regent College, Vancouver. Setting aside doctrinal difference and personal preferences they have striven to render the closest possible equivalent to the original in modern English.
In accordance with its commitment to word for word translation, the ESV uses gender-inclusive terms where the original word has no gender-specific connotation, but retains any gender-specific terms as in the original, as well as avoiding unnecessary changes to word order by retaining the generic 'he'.

Good info when people want more than the initial tract
For less than £1, this is a great way to introduce God's word to people. It's a really good quality product although the print may be a little small for some people to read easily. This ESV Gospel of John booklet is, in my opinion, a much better option to reach people than a Bible tract.
These are small books that fit in a small handbag or a pocket. That said, the print isn’t too small either, so they work pretty well. Also great for giving out to people. The ESV is a very readable translation and far better than the NIV for accuracy to the original text. I have all 4 gospels in this format and would like to see some of the other books made into these too- particularly Romans & Acts. Highly recommended *****
A very useful and good sized booklet to keep in your church foyer for enquirers or seekers asking questions about the Christian faith.
Great resource to give away to new comers at church & at doors & in our street work among S Asians
Excellent value - arresting front page, unfussy, easy to give to people.
Really pleased with the "Gospel of John" (ESV) extreamely helpful at various events i.e coffee mornings, Mums & Toddlers and young peoples groups. Well set out and easy to read.
We have formed a group in our part of France (called Loaves & Fishes) to read through books of the New Testament. Many in the group have not done this before even if they have some church connection. We started with Luke and found that single gospels were ideal for our purpose. We moved on to Acts but could not find Acts as an indivi-dual book. The group is now happily using single copies of John.
