Same trusted content. Stunning new look. Now flexible for any setting.

The content of Christianity Explored has not changed. It still explores the identity, mission and call of Jesus as you read through the Gospel of Mark. However, we feel that the new look is far more contemporary and more attractive to people who we'd like to do Christianity Explored. We have also made it so easy to use that any Christian can introduce someone they know to Jesus; there is no need to wait for a Christianity Explored course to start in your church. The Leader's Guide is very user-friendly and if you buy a Leader's Kit you get a code so that you can download the videos to your phone, tablet or laptop at no extra cost.

Here are some of the more detailed changes:

Handbook for guests

  • The original CE Handbook had 64 pages - the new version has 80 pages.
  • The page numbering doesn’t match between the old and new Handbooks. This is mainly because the new one is smaller, which means you can’t get as much on each page.
  • The opening question for Session 1 has been changed. It used to be “If you could ask God one question, and you knew it would be answered, what would it be?”. That has been replaced with “What’s the best news you’ve ever heard?”
  • The discussion at the end of Session 1 now has three questions instead of two. The new third question is “If you could ask God one question, and you knew it would be answered, what would it be?”.
  • In Session 3, the second and third questions have been reworded - they ask for the same information, but in a different way.
  • In Session 4 we have swapped the order of two questions in the closing discussion, and rephrased one of them.
  • There have been a few, very small tweaks to the wording of some of the talk summaries.

Leader’s Handbook

  • The biggest difference between the old Leader’s Guide and the new Leader’s Handbook is that we have taken quite a lot of the training material out of Section 1. This will now be available as free downloads instead; simply register you course on ceministries.org. Anything that is core to understanding and running CE has been kept in and. Section 1 is now 27 pages long instead of 65.
  • Sections 2 and 3 (taking you through the seven sessions and the day away) are very similar between the two versions. We have tweaked the wording of the answers in a few places, and the Leader’s Handbook has the same changes to questions that are listed above in the Handbook section.
  • The original Leader’s Guide had talk outlines in the back of it for those people who choose to give live talks instead of using the DVD. These talk outlines are now available as free downloads instead, and have been replaced in the new Leader’s Handbook with transcripts of the videos.
  • The appendices no longer have the section on answering tough questions. They still have answers to questions from Mark and questions about Christianity which have been reworded.

DVD

  • The contents of the DVD are unchanged. The face of the DVD is in the new style, as is the pack it comes in (Digipak), but when you put it into a DVD player you will see exactly the same as before.
  • Note - the very first version of the CE DVD didn’t come with multiple subtitles, so if you upgrade you will get the version with the subtitles included.
