James Burstow | President and Joint Chief Executive Officer

James joined the company in 2003 as our very first sales and marketing hire — and he’s been helping us grow ever since. He played a key role in launching and expanding our US operation and increasing sales in Australia, and now serves as President and Joint CEO. He was an early adopter of Zoom and is the current record holder for most meetings attended in a single week! A former English teacher in Chile and Japan, and corporate fundraiser for Great Ormond Street Children's Hospital, James is also a keen musician and leads the music at his local church.

Carl Laferton | Publisher and Joint Chief Executive Officer

Carl is Publisher and Joint CEO. He is a member of Life Church Hackbridge in south London. The author of several books for kids and adults, including The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross and God’s Big Promises Bible Storybook, Carl worked in journalism and pastoral ministry before joining TGBC in 2010.

Tom Seidler | Executive Vice President of Production and Facilities

Tom has been addicted to the joys of bulk buying, strategy games and computers since his teenage years. Since 1999 when he first joined, these addictions have been more fruitfully channelled into Kingdom building work in helping us properly harness modern technology and benefit from the global marketplace.

Kathy Thornborough | Executive Vice President of Finance

Kathy has been part of The Good Book Company since it appeared in her living room in 1991. Having put her legal training on hold while having a family, Kathy took on the role of looking after the accounts at The Good Book Company. Over the years her role has grown from part-time bookkeeper to Financial Director. After 30 years with The Good Book Company, Kathy remains cautiously optimistic.

Tim Thornborough | Chair of Trustees and Rights Marketing & Development Manager

Tim founded TGBC in 1991. Today his roles include Chairing The Good Book Company Trust and working with the Rights team to grow TGBC's international reach. He is the author of the Very Best Bible Stories series. Tim is married to Kathy and has three adult daughters.

Tom Beard | Vice President of IT, Digital & Data

Despite being born in the UK, Tom supports Australia in sporting achievements, having spent most of his youth in Sydney. He currently works on shipping pallets around the world, keeping our website accurate and editing ebooks. He is the only committed PC user in the company (which he is quietly humble about). Tom attends Dundonald Church in Raynes Park with his wife Katie and their daughter Jessica.

Paige Hebda | Vice President of People, Culture & Governance

Paige is the VP of Finance & HR, where she leads an all-star team and is dedicated to creating a strong and positive workplace culture. At home, she’s navigating life with her husband, three kids, and an unshakably optimistic loyalty to NC State—because who needs a winning season when you’ve got commitment? When she’s not tackling spreadsheets, toddlers or cheering on her beloved Wolfpack, she’s capturing life’s moments through photography. She and her family live in Raleigh, NC and are members of Imago Dei Church.

Peter Anderson | Senior Vice President of US Operations and Global Stock Control

Peter is from Northern Ireland, but now calls the USA his home. He attends Oakhurst Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC and claims to be the older, shorter and less sophisticated of two brothers.

Nelly Ortiz | UK Customer Service Manager

Born and raised in Mexico City and famous for her guacamole, Nelly loves looking after our UK customers, big and small, since 2018. Nelly, her husband and their two grown up children enjoy going for walks in the countryside with their bear-looking dog, Baloo. They attend Emmanuel Church Wimbledon.

Lynn Dudley-Taylor | UK Customer Service Assistant

Lynn is really the company baker but also helps in the Customer Service team. She attends Grace Church, Worcester Park with her two gorgeous sons and her husband (when he's not travelling with his work).

Sayuri Kato | UK Customer Service Assistant

Sayuri is from Japan and enjoys anything to do with stocking and managing the 3rd party titles at TGBC. With her husband, she projectmanages a ministry to reach the unreached in a local deprived area by saving and distributing surplus food and is passionate about biblical discipleship and the Jesus-centred community.

Dean Faulkner | UK & Europe Sales and Events Manager

Dean engages with churches, organisations and individuals to provide them with relevant resources for their varying ministries. He travels extensively across the UK in his second office - aka The Black Zafira! And where most people give directions by pubs or landmarks, Dean does it by church locations!! Dean attends St John's Church in Woking, where he lives with his family.

Robin Fairburn | Ministry Development Officer

Robin is our man in Ireland, serving our customers on both sides of the border with his customary passion for the gospel. He attends Ballygowan Pres Church but preaches regularly in churches across Northern Ireland. He is also involved on the planning committee of Keswick Portstewart.

Katy Morgan | Senior Editor

Katy works on a wide variety of projects, from rhyming picture books to adult Bible studies, and is also the author of a number of books for young people. She is a long-time children’s and youth ministry volunteer and previously worked in a school chaplaincy team. Katy lives in Chessington but enjoys escaping the suburbs for long countryside walks.

Maggie Combs | Senior Editor of Acquisitions and Developmental Editing

Maggie started her career as an author and soon discovered that she loved helping others navigate the often confusing process of writing and publishing their books. She lives in Minnesota on the farm she grew up on with her husband, three rapidly growing sons and an assortment of farm animals. She is a member of Berean Baptist Church, where she serves with the youth and in women’s-ministry leadership.

Catherine Bernard | Senior Editor

Before editing books for TGBC, Catherine was a writer and editor at Christian charity, Stewardship. Amongst other things, she also previously worked in marketing for a theatre, spent time in mission focused on anti-trafficking in Asia and studied History of Art and English Literature at university.

Alison Mitchell | Senior Editor (Production)

Since joining TGBC in 2000, Alison has worked on a huge variety of titles including the Christianity Explored range and many of our children’s series. She is the author of the award-winning books The One O’Clock Miracle and Jesus and the Lions’ Den. Alison is a member of Cornerstone Church, Kingston.

Anne Woodcock | Staff Editor

As well as proof-reading around three-quarters of TGBC titles, Anne is also involved in a number of ministries at Cornerstone Church Kingston in southwest London, where her husband, Pete, is one of the pastors.

Caroline Napper | Proofreader

Before joining TGBC, Caroline had worked as a teacher of History to teens and then English to mums at the local school. She now enjoys teaching the Bible to ladies in her church, Emmanuel Epsom. She has three children and is married to James.

Elizabeth Parsons | Head of International Rights

Despite being born in the UK, Elizabeth is fascinated by other languages and cultures. She studied modern languages and linguistics at university and is delighted to use those skills in working with translation partners around the world and selling language rights for our publications. She particularly enjoys testing her colleagues to see if they can recognize some of the more unusual languages in which these are now published.

Jackie Moralee | Publishing Coordinator and Personal Assistant to the Chief Executive Officers

Jackie uses her superhuman administration skills to keep all our publishing processes on track. She also frequently brings the UK office vital supplies of baked goods to keep energy levels high! She is involved in various ministries at Hope Church in Tolworth and her new favourite pastime is seeing her grandchildren.

Samuel Diaz-Pinto | Rights & Translations Executive

After completing his master's degree in History at Barcelona University, Sam did a variety of things before joining TGBC, including administration, archiving, translation and testing video games! His variety of skills are being put to good use in the Rights Department. He is passionate about Jesus, cinema and travelling. He is married with two young kids and is part of the media team at his local church.

Felipe Silva | UK Warehouse Manager

Felipe worked in the space industry of Brazil before joining The Good Book Company in 2016. An experience which has certainly brought him back to earth. Felipe attends church in Haywards Heath with his wife Jackie and their two young children.

Anton Joubert | UK Warehouse Assistant

The Good Book Company is so good you can't stay away! Anton worked at GBC in the noughties and returned from his beloved South Africa to join the warehouse team again in 2020. However, his time back home was not wasted. He got married to Ondine and they have 2 boys, Cale (step-son) and Regan. In his spare time be enjoys braais with friends, running and reading.

Martin Conibeer | UK Warehouse Assistant

Martin lives in Epsom with his wife Sharon and they attend Emmanuel Church. He has three adult children and loves photography, walking, reading, gardening and watching rugby.

Lauren Holley | Paid & Earned Media Specialist

After finishing a marathon of reading in a Master's Degree from Reformed Theological Seminary, she is delighted to help resource churches and individuals with quality books. She lives in Charlotte, NC, attends Oakhurst Baptist Church, and holds the utmost appreciation for mountain trails, porch swings, and being an Auntie.

Jacob Iverson | Head of Marketing

A long-time fan of the Good Book Company (with plenty of dog-eared books to prove it), Jacob loves to help others discover their next great read. Jacob resides in Michigan with his wife, four children, and one very rambunctious labradoodle. He's active in his church and local library, and loves to see people grow in their faith through reading.

Bethany McIlrath | Senior US Marketing Manager

Bethany is essentially a 'book matchmaker', making sure that our books find the people they'll serve best. Bethany lives near Charlotte with her husband Matt and their small dog Indy. She loves helping others know Christ and grow in him by serving in a variety of ministries at her church.

Hannah Irwin | Social Media Coordinator

Having studied photography at university and spent several years as a wedding photographer, Hannah is now using her photographic skills, along with her passion for reading and sharing the gospel, to coordinate all social media at The Good Book Company. She lives in London with her husband, Ian, and their two cats, Whiskey and Luna. She has been a member of The Boathouse Church, Putney, for three years and is involved in the music ministry there.

Alexa Burstow | Senior UK Marketing Manager

Following a degree in Archaeology and Anthropology, Alexa worked at several London advertising agencies and at the BBC. Now her branding, messaging and design management skills are being put to good use at TGBC. Alexa is married to James, and they have two children.

Emily Robertson | Marketing Projects Specialist

Emily's love of language and strong communication has been put to good use in the UK marketing team and has seen her take on a variety of roles during her time here. Emily lives in Chessington with her husband Dave, daughters, Grace and Bella, and their soppy labrador, Boaz. Emily studied English Literature at Cambridge University before joining TGBC.

Abigail Talbott | Web Marketing Specialist

Abigail serves as the web marketing specialist, focusing on optimizing website content and helping to streamline customer journeys. She lives in Martinsburg, WV with her husband, Thomas and their two hilarious, fun kids. They attend Grace Church in Martinsburg, West Virginia.

André Parker | Head of Design and Art Direction

André oversees the Design department of The Good Book Company, working on most of the resources TGBC produces and art-directing the illustrated children’s titles. André lives in London with his wife Sarah and their four children. He is a member of Holy Trinity Clapham where he leads a weekly Connect Group.

Drew McCall | Graphic Designer

Drew designs book covers, creates graphics for Sales and Marketing, and helps shape The Good Book Company’s visual brand. Drew and his wife Megan are members of City on a Hill Church in Boston, MA.

Ben Woodcraft | Graphic Designer

Ben works on various marketing campaigns and catalogues, as well as designing some of our book covers. He is married with three children and a member of King's Church Chessington. Ben loves to give copies of our evangelistic books to friends and neighbours.

Gilly Down | Finance Assistant

Gilly used to be an Actuary and helps us understand and organise complicated numbers. She is also involved with leading bible studies and studying biblical counselling at her church in Worcester Park. She is married to Alan and is often found practising routines for Strictly.

Sam Ball | Finance Assistant

Sam works alongside Kathy and Gilly in Accounts, assisting them with their regular accounting tasks and leaving them time to focus on more important things like budgets. Her role is part-time, so when she’s not working, she’s usually writing romance novels or reading them.

Jordan Wagnon | Financial Controller

Jordan inadvertently ended up in accounting but she now enjoys the problem-solving and balance it brings to her daily life. Outside of work, she can be found wrangling her lively labradoodle and enjoying time outdoors. She lives in Charlotte and attends Oakhurst Baptist Church.

Grace Sullivan | Finance and US Customer Service Associate

Grace would love you to join her for a chat with a good cup of coffee! She resides in Charlotte, NC with her husband and daughter, where they are members of Oakhurst Baptist Church.

Gerardine Densham Brown | UK Human Resources Manager

Gerardine started her HR career with Mercedes Benz, but realised that the corporate world was not where she wanted to be. She moved to working for the Church of England in a HR Management role, attaining her Chartered qualification, and supporting ministers and parishes in all aspects of HR best practise. Having retired at the beginning of lock down, she set up a consultancy working with Christian Charities, before joining TGBC.

Richard Roper | Vice President of Production & International Logistics

Richard brings a wealth of experience and a wonderful aura of calmness to our busy production department. He lives in Weybridge where he leads a street evangelistic team in his spare time. He is married to Grace and has two lovely children.

Jake Ayrton | Production Controller

Jake’s love of books and languages lead him to study French and English Literature at university. He joined the production department of TGBC in 2022 after working in a London literary agency. He lives in London with his wife Meg and potential border collie Monty. He plays drums in the worship band at Christ Church Mayfair and also serves in their student ministry team.

Brandon Bellanti | Head of Data and Reporting

Brandon joined TGBC in 2021 to dig into data about inventory, sales, marketing, and more. When he's not staring at spreadsheets, he loves cooking and traveling. Brandon is married to Katherine and lives in Boston, MA, where they're members at City on a Hill Church.

Nic Hurdle | Software Engineering Team Lead

Nic's love for technology began with childhood video games and has grown into a passion for coding. He's been part of TGBC since 2015 and lives in Epsom with his wife and their cat. He enjoys running with a local club, playing board games and listening to an eclectic mix of music. He also serves on the tech and music teams at his church, Emmanuel Epsom.

Mat Schofield | Software Engineer

Mat works on our website, Explore mobile app and all of our other IT bits and bobs. He grew up in North London and went to uni in Birmingham. When he moved back to London in 2019, he joined Christ Church Mayfair which he loves being a part of. He’d choose to watch a film over going to the theatre (controversial).

Martin Teh | Software Engineer

After studying Mechanical Engineering in London, he decided to move to the dark side of computing and software, and now gladly works on building and maintaining the website and the internal apps. He loves anything Christian including Frisbee and Spikeball. He leads of student bible study group at Christ Church Mayfair and dabbles in leading worship from time to time.

Mus Yusef | TechOps Generalist

Mus does a broad range of techie things, including turning things off and on again when they break. Ethnically, he is a Turkish Cypriot, with a Rwandan-English wife. Their kids are real mixed kebabs!

Jonny Barker | IT Development & Support

Jonny keeps every IT system in TGBC up to date and running smoothly. He is able to fix virtually anything and has invented a bicycle-operated disco machine. He lives in Petersfield and attends Trinity Church, Liphook.

Nick Bannister | US Sales Director

Nick loves to read good books and talk with others about them—so he considers being the US Sales Director at TGBC a dream job! Nick grew up in the mountains of Colorado with 7 siblings, but now calls the vibrant city of Chicago home. He is married to his lovely wife, Katie, and is a member of Edgewater Baptist Church. In his free time you can find him playing (European) football, drumming, or laughing with friends around a meal.

Kevin Utecht | Senior Sales Manager

Kevin is dedicated to equipping ministries, churches and customers with good books that point people to Jesus. He loves a hot cup of coffee and spending quality time with family and friends. Kevin lives in Skokie, IL with his wife and two children and is an active member at Evanston Bible Fellowship.

Calista Doty | US Customer Service Manager

Between caring for her many houseplants and keeping up with her three energetic kids, Calista also manages our US Customer Service Team. She delights in freshly-brewed coffee and office supplies, and thrives when able to point others to the excellence of Christ in his Word. She serves alongside her husband on the worship team at Oakhurst Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC.

Matt McIlrath | US CS and Logistics Associate

Matt is married to Bethany of Marketing fame and lives near Charlotte, NC. He attends New City Church, studies Japanese (こんにちは), and is quite grateful to call the capital of NASCAR racing his home.
