I will definitely be reading this book to my children about an influential Scottish minister called Knox by an influential Scottish minister called Ferguson. A great read on one of the heroes of our Reformed faith!

Michael Reeves

President of Union School of Theology

This is not just a great little introduction to a hero of the faith. It is a wonderful encouragement for children, showing that the Lord really is sufficient for every situation, that he is faithful, and that he does, in truth, use all things for the good of those who love him.

Melissa B. Kruger

Vice President of Discipleship Programming, The Gospel Coalition; Author, Wherever You Go, I Want You to Know and Growing Together

For years, I lived in Edinburgh, just steps from the historic John Knox House and St. Giles’ Cathedral. Yet, there was so much about his life I never knew. Sinclair Ferguson’s new children’s book on John Knox reveals fascinating details about his early years, offering an engaging glimpse into the man behind the Scottish Reformation. Perfect for young readers, the Do Great Things for God series is an excellent introduction to church history while providing faithful encouragement for both children and adults.

“great story but...”

John Knox: The Boy Who Changed a Country (Sinclair B. Ferguson & Cecilia Messina, The Good Book Company) - Like the books that belongs to the series Do Great Things For God, it's starts with usual introduction about what this person wants to be be when he grows up. I was impressed by John Knox's ambitions. He became what he wished to be. Once that part was done, Ferguson launched into telling a great story of this courageous and determined Reformer. The artwork compliments well with text. Some serious parts are well handled (or should I say "hidden") by the illustrator, that kids (and parents) won't worry. The book feels so short and should have added some extra stuff. Nevertheless, Ferguson ended the book with a gospel presentation which is a fitting finale.
