This bestselling, beautiful hardback storybook for kids 3+ takes children on a journey from the Garden of Eden to God’s perfect new creation. It is a memorable, engaging, Bible-based gospel presentation that focuses on the significance of the temple curtain. Faithful, theologically rich children's books are a rare treat in Christian publishing. Laferton has provided us one of the best little treatments of biblical theology available for parents to read to their children. The Garden, the Curtain, and the Cross not only teaches children stories in the Bible but the story of the Bible - one that culminates in the atoning work of Jesus Christ who gives broken sinners access to God. This book is a tremendous resource for parents and children who want to better understand the grand storyline of Scripture.

Dr R. Albert Mohler Jr President, The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary

I am so excited about this book! It is colorful, engaging, and creative, and that's just the icing on the cake! Our children receive invitations to participate in many different stories—stories of who they are, their purpose, and what God is like. The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross is a brilliant re-telling of the one story that rules all other stories. I cannot commend this book highly enough. Read it to your children, give it to your neighbours, and talk about what it means to live in light of the fact that the curtain has been torn.

Gloria Furman Author of Treasuring Christ When Your Hands Are Full and The Pastor's Wife

This is quite superb. Beautifully written and illustrated, this tells the story of the gospel so captivatingly that little ones will want to read it again and again. I’m sure it will win many young lives to Christ.

Michael Reeves President of Union School of Theology

My grandchildren loved this book—and so did I. Both the pictures and the words have made the Bible's story of redemption clear and beautiful. This is a book that invites us in.

Kathleen B. Nielson Ph.D, Author and Conference Speaker

Children need help in connecting the various stories of the Bible so that it isn't a book of fascinating but unrelated stories. Biblical theology for children is therefore essential and Carl Laferton's lavishly illustrated book succeeds brilliantly in explaining the true meaning of Easter. A must-have for all who are involved with children.

Ian Fry Families pastor and former Director of Youth and Children's Ministry at Oak Hill College

Brilliant. You will want to read this with your children. Clear story-telling combines with evocative artwork, and the gospel shines through.

Josh Moody Senior Pastor, College Church, Wheaton

I’ve longed for a book like this, and now it's here. This book condenses incredibly complex stories into words and images that explain the story-line of the Bible in a way that young hearts will understand. Laferton has written a book that will help parents in teaching their children about the greatest news—the gospel—they could ever know.

Trillia J. Newbell Author of Enjoy, Fear and Faith, and United.

As a mother of four little children, I am always eager to find books that warm and guide their young hearts towards the big story of the Bible and the good news of Jesus. ‘The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross’ is one of those gems!

Keith Getty Hymnwriter; founder of Getty Music; author of Sing!

'The Garden, The Curtain and The Cross' is a wonderful retelling of the world’s greatest story. With beautiful artistry on every page, it conveys the complexity of the human problem, and God’s ultimate sacrifice, with elegantly simple language and clever, powerful repetition, perfect for young ears. Children will be undoubtably be drawn to the paintings, and moved by the words.

For our 2026 Easter program, we read "The Garden, the Curtain and the Cross," and wanted to have slides of illustrations pulled up so all kids could see. These images worked great. The art is nice and files were high quality.
