Some boys and girls just like you came to see Jesus.
But someone said, “You’re too little. Jesus can’t talk to you.”
Were they right?
This engaging retelling of little children coming to Jesus from Mark 10 v 13-16 teaches pre-school children that you’re never too little to be God’s friend.

Notes for Parents:
This story comes from Mark 10 v 13-16. The disciples wanted to stop people bringing their children to Jesus, but this is what he said: “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” (v 14-15, NIV)
Jesus wants us to be his friends, and to follow him as King of our lives (that’s what “receiving the kingdom of God” means). But you don’t have to pay to enter God’s kingdom, and you can’t earn it by being good. As this story tells us, “You don’t have to be a great, big, super-good, important person to be God’s friend”. Instead it’s like a little child getting a present. It’s a free gift.
Jesus welcomes everyone who comes to him like a child and puts their trust in him.:
This book and another in the same series- ' The best thing to do', that we bought for our 19 month old, are much loved by her. She picks them out for us to read to her on a regular basis. The pictures and the words used make this very readable and very much enjoyed by our daughter. She also now gets it out to read herself and says a key word from each page from memory, as it's such a memorable book with easy words to say, without changing the meaning of the true story from the Bible. Highly recommend these books for toddlers.
Love how simple this book is in bringing the story to life! Great for children and I enjoy reading it myself!
My 3 and 1 year olds love these books, and my 3 year old now enjoys acting them out too! Great way of sharing biblical truths with little ones.
These books were great for our Creche ( 0-4s) and the material that came with them was really helpful giving ideas of games, crafts and colouring sheets to support the main teaching point of each of these books.
I would highly recommend these as a resource that could be used in a Sunday School or Toddler Group Setting.
We love it! Please can you write some more?
Do you have toddlers running amok in your home? Are you a friend, grandparent, Sunday School teacher, or nursery worker in your local church? If so, you’re probably well aware that Christian books for children are in high demand. Reading to children is vital, and teaching them the scriptures is even more necessary.
Have you ever read a children’s book about the bible that just so slightly missed the mark? Maybe they told most of the story correctly but passed over a detail that was vital. Perhaps they paraphrased the story well but failed to point to the gospel.
This is a problem. We want our children to know God’s word accurately. We also desire that they come to faith in Christ and not rely on themselves or some inherent goodness which the scripture clearly teaches they don’t have (Romans 3:10).
Steph Williams’ Little Me, Big God series does a wonderful job of blending accuracy with engagement. The bible stories come to life with vivid action verbs, catchy illustrations, and the brevity necessary for the attention span of the little people we chase around all day.
The series contains three wonderful books:
The Man Who Wouldn’t Be Quiet, based on blind Bartemaeus in Mark 10:46-52
The Best Thing To Do, based on Jesus’ interactions with Mary and Martha in Luke 10:38-42
Never Too Little, based on the scene when the disciples wanted to hinder children in (Mark 10:13-16)
Each book has “Notes For Grown-Ups” and the biblical text from the New International Version, making these books a wonderful tool for family worship, preschool class, or reading time for the little ones in your life.
Grab a set of the Little Me, Big God books and buy another set for someone who has little ones! It’s well worth the investment to see children being saturated in the scriptures!
These books are fantastic for little ones. Bright, engaging pictures and well chosen words to bring the stories to life. Excellent additional material too. Thank you!
